Beacon Vlei Guest Farm offers a tranquil retreat in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal's Midlands, where history and nature converge to create an unforgettable experience. The farm features five charming self-catering dwellings: Crane Cottage, Otter Cottage, Heron Cottage, The Boathouse, and The Farm House. Each unit is thoughtfully designed with en suite bathrooms, open-plan living spaces, and stunning views of the private dam and wetland area. Guests can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities on-site, including bass fishing, boating, birding, and leisurely walks around Beacon Vlei. For those seeking adventure beyond the farm, we offer arrangements for mountain biking, horse riding, canopy tours, battlefield tours, and even paragliding in the surrounding countryside.

Rooms & Features

  • Crane Cottage: Consisting of two king bedrooms both en suite with showers, Crane Cottage offers a spacious open-plan kitchen, dining room, and living area. The cottage features a large fireplace, a double sleeper couch, and DStv. It comes equipped with braai facilities.
  • Otter Cottage: This unit includes two king bedrooms, one with a walk-in shower and the other with a bath and separate walk-in shower. The open-plan kitchen, dining room, and living area open onto a veranda overlooking the dam. A fireplace and DStv are also available.
  • The Farm House: Our flagship unit can accommodate up to 12 guests and offers spectacular views over our 23-hectare private dam. Fully equipped for catering needs, The Farm House is perfect for larger groups or families seeking a luxurious stay.
  • The Boathouse: Featuring panoramic views of the dam from its king bedroom en suite, The Boathouse includes a fully equipped kitchen and an open-plan living/dining room with a large fireplace and DStv. An alcove in the living area houses two single beds.
  • Heron Cottage: With two king bedrooms both en suite, Heron Cottage boasts an open-plan kitchen, dining, and living room that opens onto a veranda overlooking our 23-hectare private dam. The central room features a large fireplace and DStv.
