Thorn Tree Bush Camp is a family-run retreat nestled within the heart of Dinokeng Game Reserve, South Africa’s first public-private partnership reserve. Just an hour from Pretoria, this camp has evolved into a haven offering tented bush camps, cosy cabins, and self-catering cottages, each designed for privacy with braai facilities. The six private campsites feature ablutions and hot water systems, while some units offer wood-fired Tickel Tubs for starlit evenings. Guests can experience Dinokeng’s spirit of conservation through guided Big Five game drives, bush walks, or simply by soaking in the tranquillity of the bushveld. From lion calls at night to giraffes wandering along the fence line, every moment is a testament to Thorn Tree Bush Camp's commitment to nature, community, and connection.

  • Thorn Pear: Comfortably furnished for a couple or duo of friends, the tent features 2 single beds convertible to a king-size bed. The shared ablutions are fitted with a shower, along with a kitchenette, dining area, and braai facilities.
  • Duiker Bush Campsite: This medium central private campsite offers limited shade, its own private ablution (toilet, shower, washbasin), electricity, braai, and water point. Separated by natural bush for privacy.
  • Eland Bush Campsite: An extra-large private campsite along the fence line with reasonable shade, this site includes a private ablution (toilet, shower, washbasin) and facilities such as electricity, braai, and water point. Ideal for groups sharing space.
  • Kudu Bush Campsite: Shaded and offering bush views, this campsite features its own private ablution (toilet, shower, washbasin), electricity, braai, water point, and a JoJo splash pool for hot days.
  • Nyala Bush Campsite: A central large campsite with good shade, this site includes an ablution, braai, water, and can accommodate 2-3 medium caravans/trailers. Perfect for group stays.
  • Red Hartebees Bush Campsite: Located at the entrance along the fence line, this corner campsite offers afternoon shade, a private ablution, electricity, braai, and water point. Suitable for up to two trailers or caravans.
  • Tsesebe Bush Campsite: This large private campsite with excellent bush views is perfect for game watching. It includes its own private ablution, electricity, braai, and water point, accommodating 2-3 trailers or caravans.
  • Off-Grid Campsite Caracal: A remote off-grid campsite overlooking a natural waterhole, this site offers no power or facilities. Guests must be fully equipped with a porta potty for the true wilderness experience.
  • Off-Grid Campsite Serval: An unfenced wilderness campsite within the Big Five Dinokeng Game Reserve, suitable only for experienced and fully equipped campers. A braai or firepit is provided; no ablutions are available.
