This year, the Wildflower Stepping Stones Project is taking our Wildflower Walks to another level.
In the past, we've only walked in Kenridge and in Van Riebeeckshof - but this year, we're adding a garden walk and a BRAND NEW Protea Valley walk. What's more, the Van Riebeeckshof walk will this year include a special emphasis on the birdlife of the area, while the Protea Valley walk will focus on the animals we share our urban habitat with. It's going to be a fabulous spring for conservation!
The first walk of the season is the GARDEN WALK, where we'll celebrate the gardens created in the past three years:
Come explore the different approaches to raising locally-indigenous plants, learn new flower names, and rediscover the wonder on our doorsteps!
The route & transport
We'll start and meet at the Kenridge Pollinator Garden in Kenridge park (opposite the Vineyard Deli, near the children's play equipment). From there we'll walk to the DoordeKraal Dam to see the Fynbos Life Circle, after which we'll end the walk on a high: at the stunning Majik Forest Educational Garden.
You can choose to walk back or spend the day in Majik Forest. Alternatively, collaborate with friends and leave a car at Majik Forest before we start so you can drive back afterwards. There will be a group walking back to the Pollinator Garden - if you're still up for walking!
