WILD REMEDIES WORKSHOP WITH ZAHEERA SWING AND VELD & SEA - 8 AUGUST

Come and experience an immersive introduction to herbal medicine and wild remedies using indigenous fynbos plants. Through tasting, touching and crafting, you will explore how plants can be worked with as everyday medicine and create your own fynbos bitters tincture and herbal pastilles to take home.

WHAT TO EXPECT:

You will arrive to a warming cup of herbal tea in the Glasshouse. We then begin by moving into an interactive talk on indigenous medicinal plants like African wormwood, wild sage, pelargonium, wild dagga, slangbos and confetti bush. We'll take our time to experience each plant through scent, touch, and taste. This will be followed by an introduction to different herbal preparations with a focus on tinctures and pastilles. Then it's time to take part in a guided herb walk through the garden to mindfully harvest plants for your own personalised fynbos bitters blend. Once back in the Glasshouse, you'll be shown how to craft your own tincture, followed by a hands on herbal pastille making session using dried powered herbs and raw honey (a tactile process of mixing, rolling and shaping by hand). We'll then close the day with a light, warming, herbal-infused lunch.
