The South African Burlesque Festival - where elite local and international Burlesque artistes apply for the opportunity to compete for the title of Queen!


Now in it's 9th year, this premier annual showcase honours the art-form of Burlesque for its timeless elegance and historical significance. We hope to enrapture you with all of the glamour and sophistication of a bygone era whilst inviting you to experience a remarkable display of contemporary sensuality, sexuality, and empowerment.


Boasting beautifully tiered plush velvet seating, premier acoustics, and the deep cultural history of District Six, the prestigious Star Theatre at the Homecoming Centre is the perfect new venue partner for the ninth and biggest South African Burlesque Festival to date.


Doors Open: 18:00


Debutante Ball: 19:00

The Debutante Ball will showcase Artistes battling it out for the title of Best Debut. This category is for up-and-coming performers looking to cement themselves as forces in the Burlesque and entertainment scene. With renewed energy and vibrancy, this event will no doubt catapult the competitors into stardom.


Interval: 20:30 21:00


Battle Royale: 21:00

The Battle Royale will showcase distinguished Artistes battling it out for the title of Sheba Tease - displaying their prowess in the art of tease, choreography and costuming. This category is for seasoned professionals who are looking to join an elite group of Burlesque legends who have perfected their craft.


This year the South African Burlesque Festival will feature an award-winning Burlesque Headliner from Los Angeles, USA - keep an eye on Instagram for updates


The audience votes for the crowning of our two Burlesque Queens who will wear their titles until our 2027 ten-year anniversary.


Dress:

Formal (Suits and Gowns are encouraged)


This is an event for individuals aged 18 years and older.


The South African Burlesque Festival welcomes individuals of all genders and orientations.
