No One Is Coming To Save You · Women's Book Launch Dinner

You have read the other ones. They understood you for an afternoon and changed nothing by the weekend. This is not that book.

This is an evening for women. Seats may be booked as a gift, but the room is theirs.

On the second of October, sixty women will sit down to dinner for the launch of No One Is Coming To Save You, the first book by writer-anthropologist Zukiswa Phoofolo. Each will leave with a signed first edition.

No One Is Coming To Save You is a field guide for women rebuilding, in one part of life or in all of it. It does not ask you to think positively or wait to be saved. It hands you the method by which a self is actually made, drawn from anthropology, psychology, and one woman's own unmaking, and it teaches you to run that method on yourself, on purpose.

On the second of October 2026 it will be read aloud for the first time. It is not a comfortable book, and this will not be a comfortable evening. You will sit down as one woman and leave, a little, as another.

• Venue: The Black Box at Mea Culpa, 35 11th Road, Kew, Johannesburg
• Secure parking and a licensed bar on site

Dress Evening semi-formal. Guests are invited to dress in shades of ink black, oxblood and silver.

Good to know Strictly sixty seats. Once they are gone, they are gone. This is a women-only evening. Please note any dietary requirements when you book, so the kitchen can prepare for you. Tickets are non-transferable to another date, as this is a single launch evening.
