Grey Mare's Tail Falls Hike
We're heading to one of the most stunning and lesser-known gems in the Karkloof: Grey Mare's Tail Falls!
This is where the magic lives. Hiking through the lush indigenous forest feels like stepping into an enchanted world.
Standing beneath the falls is an unforgettable experience, but here's the fascinating part: the waterfall actually shifts up to 10 metres from side to side along the cliff face. Even those trying to avoid getting wet often end up caught in the spray! The falls move much like the tail of a horse, which is how Grey Mare's Tail got its name.
From the grasslands above, the stream plunges an incredible 101 metres over towering dolerite cliffs into the misty forest below. It's a breathtaking sight and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in KwaZulu-Natal.
