ARIA Gqeberha String Trio

Bach & 4th Concert Series is delighted to present the Gqeberha String Trio in an intimate evening of chamber music celebrating the expressive beauty of the human voice through strings.

Inspired by Bach's monumental Goldberg Variations and Villa-Lobos' haunting Bachianas Brasileiras No. 5, ARIA explores the lyrical qualities of music across four centuries. The programme features works by J.S. Bach, Villa-Lobos, Schubert, Handel, Granados and Jan-Hendrik Harley, taking audiences on a journey from Baroque elegance to Romantic passion and beyond.

The ensemble brings together three of South Africa's leading string players:

• David Bester violin
• Jan-Hendrik Harley viola
• Mariechen Meyer double bass

Together they create a rich, distinctive sound that reimagines the traditional string trio through exceptional artistry and musical storytelling.
