AfrikaBurn 2027 - The Big Question?

We invite you to join us in the Tankwa Karoo, South Africa, from 26 April to 2 May 2027, for a week of art, creativity, radical self-expression and the sort of wonderful weirdness that might just change the way you see the world.

What is AfrikaBurn?

Well, that's a very big question.

AfrikaBurn is South Africa's regional Burning Man event, and it's absolutely not a music festival. It's also certainly not somewhere you turn up, find a comfortable seat and wait to be entertained. There are no headline acts, no food stalls, and nothing for sale (except ice). There isn't even a programme telling you where to be and when.

Instead, thousands of people from around the world descend on a remote patch of the Tankwa Karoo desert and build an entire temporary city. From scratch. They fill it with experimental artworks, weird and wonderful theme camps, amazing workshops and performances, mutant vehicles (moving art), unexpected encounters, ridiculous ideas and things that don't really have names yet.

And the best part? You're not just invited to experience it. You're invited to create it.

This is a world built by its participants, not for an audience. Bring your imagination, your curiosity, your expertise, your good and questionable ideas and whatever else you have to contribute.
